HOW WE ARE RESPONDING TO COVID-19

UPDATE: June 15, 2020

We hope everyone is keeping safe and that this communication finds you in good health.

As the cases of COVID-19 slowly begin to decrease across Canada, the Provincial Government has issued new directives for Retirement Homes in various regions. On June 11th, we received a number of updates, including new guidelines for Resident and family visitations, short absences and new admissions into Retirement Homes, resuming on June 18th.

We are currently reviewing all of the information and will provide specific details on what the new directives mean for Lord Dufferin Retirement Residence. We want nothing more than to get back to some normalcy but we must consider all safety protocols and procedures including implementing the recommendations from the Public Health Agency of Canada and the Medical Officer of Health. Once we finalize our approach into slowly ‘lifting’ restrictions we will communicate this to Residents, Families and Team Members.

We know everyone is very much looking forward to seeing loved ones, so we ask for your continued patience as we finalize the safest approach for our Home. Safety can never be compromised. Should the pandemic situation change, there may be times when we have to take a step-back, to re-impose any restrictions.

As a further update, Retirement Homes are still not permitted to re-open Hair Salons at this time; as they are not considered an essential service.

THANK YOU to everyone and we encourage you to do what you can to stay healthy and protect the health of others. Together we stand strong!
